I’ve upgraded WordPress to version 2.2 tonight, as usual let me know if anything is broken or doesn’t work.

Why can’t they talk to each other?
Why can’t everything I have and use integrate into one giant “thing”? Why can’t I make a phone call from my fridge? blog from my toaster? Why can’t I integrate WordPress and Facebook? Why can’t I combine Yahoo & Google? Why can’t I have one central contact list across all my devices and there various operating systems? Why can’t I easily blog from my cell phone? or take a picture with my camera, upload it via my cell and post it to this site, flickr and Facebook all at once? Why? Why? Why?
I’ve decided to make it my mission in life to make everything I own and use talk to everything else.
Facebook Friends
As if I don’t have enough things sucking up my free time, I’ve now been bitten by the Facebook bug. Yes that’s right I’m one of those people now sending out those annoying emails to all my friends asking begging them to acknowledge me as a friend.
Social networking software/websites are rather interesting, how you suddenly start tracking down people that you haven’t heard from or seen for years. You suddenly discover that a friend from high school is now sitting in London or that a girl in your primary school class is now incredibly *hot*. The big problem of course is that maintaining your friends list and keeping up with whats happening in there lives becomes almost a full time job, I’ve already spent a few hours going through friends, friends lists looking for friends that I’ve lost contact with and adding them to my friends list. (I hope that sentence made sense my friends.)
So if you know me, go add me as a friend. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go find more friends…
RSS Traffic Feeds
Wouldn’t it be really cool to have a RSS feed that gave you information about current road traffic, what roads were closed, which were open and where there were accidents? So here’s my idea for a RSS Road Traffic information system.
Blogroll’s and Friends who blog…
So I enabled the Blogroll thingie side bar on the right.
And I’ve added links to my friends blogs/sites.
Memento Mari – A reminder that you must eat marie biscuits!
Richard’s “blog” where he talks about all kinds of “stuff”, always a good read. He’s just moved over to a different host and started using WordPress.
Looking out the window – It’s a crime to be indoors on a day like this.
Rachel’s “blog”, lots of photos and stuff. Recently met her on a trip to George and she seems rather cool…
How do you make money with a website?
I want to know how people make money off there websites… I’m not talking the couple of cents they make from AdWords I’ talking real money.. the kind that lets you buy cars, plans and small countries.
The last few weeks I’ve been spending alot of time looking at online business’s with a particular eye towards how to make money with them and somethings got me very puzzled how do they all make money?
It’s a Bug
“Dear Google,
I have found a bug in your Google Maps service. A big one indeed.
In fact, I worry for my life, that it might come and eat me.
So please, won’t you fix this bug in a hurry? I’m sure you can ask
the German military to aid you in the struggle against this bug.
The bug in question can be sighted here, in all it’s scary godzilla-like
mean self: Link to Bug
Yours truly.”

Article on Online Retailing
A really good read.. this article gives a very different view of the world of online retailing.
The articles called A view from (under) the long tail.
I really love the following bit from the article:
Where Amazon?s normal customer service seems to be run by suspiciously cheerful MBAs from Stanford, who break off from counting their stock options to write apologies and deliver refunds, ?Amazon Advantage?, the ironically named system for selling wares, is clearly based on the last days of the Soviet system.
Last.Fm is really cool…
I love all the new sites that are coming out… one that a friend recently introduced me to is called Last.Fm.
Now last.fm is very hard to describe but basically through special plugins in media players your computer sends them information on what music you listen to all this is then stripped of any “private” information and then grouped together with a the information gathered from thousands of other people. They then do lots of fancy stuff on all the data and finally come out with info that says “People who like Katie Melua will also like KT Tunstall”. By signing up for your own account at last.fm you can tell them what you like which means that they’ll then be able to give you better more accurate information on other artists you may like.
The Internet Archive
A while ago I was watching an episode of NerdTV where Robert “X” Cringely interviews Brewster Kahle? the? creater of the Internet Archive.? I must admit that the only thing I? knew or ever used of the internet archive was the Wayback machine which? allows you to “go back in time” and view an older version of a website.
But in the interview they were talking about Movies, Audio, Books and all kinds of other stuff that the Internet Archive now archives so I decided to go take a look…
